Sanwo-Olu Urges Trainees Of Full-Stack Web Development, Data Analysis To Inspire – As Beneficiaries Receive 200 Laptops from Government Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has charged graduates of a Specialised ICT Training Programme, organised by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, in collaboration with
Mactay Consulting, to leverage their newly acquired skills to inspire positive change and drive innovation across the digital landscape.
The Governor made this known on Thursday at the presentation of laptops and Microsoft certificates to the 200 beneficiaries who successfully completed four months of intensive training in Full Stack Web Development and Data Analysis.
The event, held at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, marked the culmination of a rigorous selection process that began in 2024 with over 3,000 applicants.
Represented by the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the initiative is part of his administration’s deliberate efforts to equip Lagos youths with globally competitive ICT skills, enabling them to access job opportunities both locally and internationally.
“The future of Lagos rests on the investments we make in our young people today,” the Governor declared. “This training and the tools we are providing are part of a broader strategy to position Lagos as a key player in the global digital economy.”
He urged the beneficiaries to explore the positive potential of technology, uphold ethical standards, and strive to become outstanding digital ambassadors who will elevate Lagos on the global stage.
Also speaking, the Chairman, House Committee on Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Mrs. Stella Foluke Osafile, lauded the initiative as a youth-focused and capacity-building endeavour aimed at solving unemployment and creating pathways to economic independence.
She encouraged the trainees to be agents of positive change and influence others towards productivity. Speaking earlier in his capacity as the Commissioner of the Ministry, Hon. Ajigbotafe described the Specialised ICT Training as a strategic intervention to enhance high-tech proficiency and improve employability among young residents.
He noted that the programme forms part of a broader ecosystem of empowerment initiatives driven by the Ministry, which also includes: Graduate Internship Placement Programme, Job Fairs, Technical and Vocational Training, Labour Exchange Centres
“These initiatives are designed to create sustainable wealth and reduce unemployment by equipping our youth with in-demand skills,” he added.
In her goodwill message, Mrs. Edna Agusto, a facilitator and representative of Centiport Africa, underscored the significance of the programme in fostering innovation and enhancing job creation. Mr. Tunde Rotimi, Director at Mactay Consulting, also commended the initiative, highlighting its role in preparing participants for the evolving demands of the global job market.
One of the beneficiaries of the training, Titilayo Oluwakemi, while sharing her experience, said: “Completing the Data Analyst course deepened my passion for data and equipped me with key skills in Excel, SQL, Python, and Power BI, along with a solid understanding of data visualisation and business intelligence. This experience shifted my mindset toward curiosity and growth”.
The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of Microsoft certificates and brand-new laptops to all 200 participants.
The gesture signifies the readiness of the beneficiaries to excel in the tech space and contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of Lagos State.
