CELEBRATION OF IMPACTFUL LIVING: ESSIEN UDIM LAWMAKER HONOURS UNIUYO REGISTRAR AT 60TH BIRTHDAY
It was a celebration of a life of purpose, impact and grace as Mrs. Blossom Okorie, Registrar of the University of Uyo, marked her 60th birthday with family, friends, colleagues and dignitaries gathered to honour her inspiring journey.
The event, held on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, was graced by the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, who joined other guests in celebrating the diamond jubilarian.
As part of the celebration, a book entitled “Leading with Purpose” authored by Mrs. Okorie, was presented to the public. The book captures her remarkable journey of leadership, purpose, accountability and unwavering service in the Nigerian university system.
Delivering his goodwill message, Prince Akpabio eulogized the celebrator, describing her as “God’s vessel whose life has imparted many”. He recounted his first encounter with Mrs. Okorie during his representation of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, at the University of Uyo’s Registry Lecture in 2024.
Since then, the lawmaker noted, the Registrar’s support and moral influence have left a significant impact on him and his constituents.
“Mrs. Blossom Okorie is indeed a woman of great impact. Her life and service continue to uplift many. I pray God to grant her long life in good health to enjoy the fruits of her labour”. He said.
The highlight of the event was the official launch of the book by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Princess Emem Ibanga.
Presenting the Governor’s address, Princess Ibanga praised Mrs. Okorie for her legacy of spiritual strength, compassion and moral leadership, describing her as “a source of succour who has dedicated her life to changing lives and preaching godly values.”
Mrs. Blossom Okorie, who holds a Master of Arts in English Language, is a respected administrator and a committed professional. She is a member of the Association of University Professional Administrators (AUPA), the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration.
Beaming with joy and gratitude, Mrs. Okorie, flanked by her husband, Dr. Ebere Okorie and children thanked God for His sustaining grace and the gift of life.
She described the occasion as a moment of deep reflection and thanksgiving for all that God has done in her personal and professional life.
“This is not just my celebration; it is God’s. I am grateful for His mercy, for the love of my family, and for the privilege to serve and be a blessing to others. Mrs. Okorie said.
The colourful event attracted members of the university community, top government officials, clergymen, family friends, and professionals from various walks of life, all united to honour a woman whose life continues to inspire.
